Biscayne Cove

from $275.00

Biscayne Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador. Some places make you work for them. Biscayne Cove, at the northeastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula, is one of those places.

The drive from Pouch Cove to Biscayne Cove was a challenge as the road was a very rough dirt road. My car protested the journey with every bump and pothole, and more than once I wondered if I should turn back. But it was well worth the time and effort.

The scenery at Biscayne Cove was pretty special. It opens up suddenly — one moment you're navigating rocks and ruts, the next you're standing at the edge of a landscape that feels like the end of the world. Cliffs drop to churning water. The Atlantic stretches to the horizon with nothing between you and Ireland. The wind carries salt and the calls of seabirds.

I spent time exploring the cove, looking for compositions that captured its remote grandeur. The cliffs provided dramatic foreground, the sea stacks offshore added interest, and the vast sky overhead reminded me how small we are against this landscape.

Some destinations are crowded because they're easy to reach. Biscayne Cove stays uncrowded because the road discourages all but the determined. For those willing to make the drive, the solitude is part of the reward.

Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Ultra gloss finish emphasizes the dramatic contrast between rugged cliffs and open sea.
