The waterfront at sunset transforms. Fishing stages and weathered buildings that look merely picturesque by day become silhouettes of form, their shapes outlined against skies that shift through orange, pink, and purple.
The television show Severance filmed here in 2023, using Bonavista's authentic charm as the fictional town of Salt's Neck. Walking the streets, I could see why the location scouts chose this place. The modern world has arrived but hasn't overwhelmed what came before. The fishing heritage remains visible in the stages and wharves, the salt box houses line streets that follow the contours of the land rather than any grid.
