Cloudy Dawn
Bonita Springs, Florida. The dawn light really brought out the vibrant colours on the course on this peaceful morning. The reflection in the pond was exceptional.
Cloud cover is often seen as an obstacle by photographers, but I've learned to appreciate it. Clouds add drama and texture, and they become canvases for the rising or setting sun. On this dawn, the clouds were perfect — low enough to catch the first light, broken enough to allow colors to shift between them, reflected in the still pond that bordered the hole.
The reflection is what elevates this image. The pond creates a near-perfect mirror image of the sky, doubling the visual impact. Oranges, pinks, and purples appear both above and below the horizon line, creating symmetry and balance. The greens of the course provide grounding, a reminder that this is a real place.
Standing there watching the colors intensify, then gradually fade as the sun rose higher, I was struck by how golf courses become theaters for natural drama. The landscaping, the water features, the open vistas — all of it combines to create ideal conditions for witnessing the day's beginning.
Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Recommended in ultra gloss finish to maximize the reflection effect and intensify the dawn palette. Where sky meets earth in reflection.
