This image combines intentional camera movement with wildlife — pelicans and sandpipers, the whole beach ecosystem going about its business while the sky put on its show. The blur reduces birds to suggestions, movement implied rather than frozen.
The title refers to both clouds and moment. Sunsets are by definition fleeting — the best light lasts minutes, sometimes seconds. ICM adds another layer of impermanence, movement during exposure making even that brief moment unstable.
I've been drawn to ICM as a way of photographing familiar scenes with fresh eyes. Southwest Florida sunsets are beautiful but common; everyone photographs them. ICM lets me make something different, something that reflects personal response rather than objective record.
