Algonquin Park, Ontario. Golden reeds, pastel-blue sky, and deep blue pond create a serene image of fall.
The reeds around the shore had already turned their autumn colour — that warm straw-gold that dried grasses take on. The sky was clear, fading from pale blue at the zenith to warmer tones near the horizon, and the pond reflected it all. But it was the reeds that made the composition. They ringed the water in layers, creating depth and texture around the calm blue centre.
I experimented with different vantage points, looking for the angle that balanced the warm foreground against the cool water without either overwhelming the other. This frame works because the reeds frame the pond rather than crowd it, and because the reflection creates a sense of depth that pulls you into the scene.
A serene image that matches how it felt to stand there. Just golden light on golden reeds around blue water. Those moments are why I keep coming back to this park.
