King City, Ontario. King's Riding Golf Course is located in the rolling countryside north of Toronto. This image captures the approach to the 9th hole, with plenty of obstacles to pass on the way.
The title “Closing In” has double meaning for me. It refers both to the approach shot toward the green and to the psychological experience of facing a challenging hole. Every golfer knows this feeling — the narrowing focus, the heightened awareness, the sense that the obstacles are growing larger with each step forward. This photograph captures that tension.
King's Riding is a thinking person's course, where strategy matters as much as power. The obstacles in this image aren't just hazards to be avoided; they're design elements that force decisions, that reward smart play and punish carelessness. Photographing it, I tried to convey both its beauty and its challenge.
