Lavender Fields Forever
Creemore, Ontario. I spent an evening at Fennario Meadows, which is the source for all of the lavender that goes into the many Fennario and Terre Bleu products which can be found at Terrebleu.ca. Fennario Meadows is currently not open to the public. It was a spectacular evening, with the birds and honey bees providing the background noise.
The fragrance was intoxicating, carried on a breeze, and the visual spectacle before me demanded to be captured in a way that would convey not just the sight but the feeling of this place.
This photograph celebrates the seemingly infinite pattern of lavender stretching before the lens. The rows converge toward a vanishing point, creating a sense of depth that draws viewers into the image and invites them to imagine walking those fragrant corridors themselves. The lavender blooms glow with that characteristic purple — a colour associated with calm, with luxury, with the simple pleasures of a summer garden.
I recommend printing this photograph on Chromaluxe metal to fully realize the luminous quality of lavender at golden hour. The metal substrate enhances the rich purples and adds a contemporary edge to this pastoral subject, while the archival quality ensures that this captured moment of Ontario summer will remain vivid for generations.
