Algonquin Park, Ontario. The water was so still that the lilies floating on its surface appeared to soar amongst the clouds.
In that stillness, the lilies seemed to float not on a pond but in the sky itself. The boundary between water and sky had dissolved. It's an optical trick, but it's also a kind of truth about how interconnected these elements are in a place like Algonquin.
I kept the composition minimal, resisting the urge to include shoreline or too many lilies. Sometimes less context forces the eye to really see what's there. The pads become abstract shapes, the clouds become backdrop, and the whole image asks you to figure out which way is up.
