Night Is Falling

from $275.00

Haliburton, Ontario. The water's surface transforms as evening light plays across gentle ripples and reflections. A study of light, shadow, and movement — water meeting the fading winter day.

What drew me to this scene was its intimacy. So much of landscape photography is about grandeur, about capturing the sweep of mountains or the drama of storms. This was something different, a study of light meeting water at the end of the day. The colors are muted, almost painterly, with soft greys and blues merging into each other like watercolors bleeding on wet paper.

I titled it Night Is Falling because that is precisely what was happening, both literally and in the mood of the image. There is a gentle melancholy here, the kind that comes with endings, but also a peacefulness. The water was preparing for darkness. I was fortunate enough to witness the transition.

Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Matte finish recommended to preserve the subtle tones and soft gradations. Where day dissolves into memory.
