Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. There are places that define a coastline, and Peggy's Cove is one of them. The fishing village has been photographed countless times, but on a foggy morning with still water, it shows a different side.
The water in the harbour was unusually calm, creating reflections that softened everything — the weathered shacks, the grey sky overhead. Like looking at the village through rippled glass.
What draws photographers to Peggy's Cove is the combination of human and natural elements. The fishing stages and lobster traps speak to generations of livelihood from the sea. The granite rocks, smoothed by ice ages and pounded by Atlantic storms, speak to something older. On this morning, with fog blurring the boundaries, the two seemed to merge.
