Snow Pops
Algonquin Park, Ontario. Snow in winter.
After a snowfall, Algonquin becomes a study in white interrupted by dark verticals. The world had been transformed, every horizontal surface cushioned in white, every branch holding its share of the load. I was looking for patterns — the way snow accumulates, the shapes it creates, the contrast between pristine white and the dark trunks it surrounds.
These particular trees caught my eye because of the snow collected on their branches, small accumulations that looked almost like decorations against the dark bark. The forest behind receded into softer tones, suggesting depth without detail. In the foreground, the snow was unmarked, smooth as a blank page.
I kept the composition simple: strong verticals, clean foreground, soft background. The trees create rhythm, the snow provides the stage, and the whole image captures that specific kind of hush that comes after a significant snowfall, when everything is muffled and new.
Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Matte finish to preserve the soft quality of the light and the texture of fresh snow. For those who wake up early after a snowfall to see the world remade.
