Snow Squall

from $275.00

Haliburton, Ontario. A brief snow squall went through just below the waterfalls on the Hollow River. I was photographing the waterfalls when the sky darkened and the squall swept through. Most photographers would have packed up. I saw it as an opportunity — the collision of flowing water and falling snow.

The squall was brief but intense. Heavy snow fell through the frame, partially obscuring the waterfalls behind and creating a layered effect of motion and atmosphere. The water, dark against the rocks, now seemed to glow against the grey curtain of snow. Everything felt muffled and intimate.

The result captures a rare moment — autumn's last waterfalls meeting winter's first snow. There is a transitional quality here, one season giving way to another. The falls keep flowing, indifferent to cold, while snow swirls around them. A dialogue between elements I felt privileged to witness.

Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Matte finish recommended to complement the soft atmospheric quality of falling snow. Winter arrives.
