Star Trails

from $275.00

Haliburton, Ontario. Summer nights in Haliburton offer some of the darkest skies in Southern Ontario, far from the light pollution of the cities. I arrived at my location to scout compositions, then settled in for the night ahead.

The technical challenge of star trail photography is considerable. This long-exposure shot captures the movement of the heavens as the Earth rotates beneath them. When the images came together, the magic revealed itself. The stars transformed from points of light into graceful arcs, painting luminous streaks across the summer night sky. The rotation of the Earth, usually invisible to us, became dramatically apparent — frozen in a single image.

Standing alone under that vast canopy of stars, camera working beside me, I felt simultaneously insignificant and connected to something larger than myself. This image represents patient work, but more than that, it represents a night of wonder — of lying on my back during breaks and simply staring upward, overwhelmed by the immensity of the universe above.

Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Ultra gloss finish recommended to make the star trails pop against the deep night sky. The heavens in motion.
