Timing was everything. I needed that transitional moment when the city lights had begun to glow but the sky still retained enough blue to provide depth and contrast — towards the end of golden hour, as the lights become visible against the blue sky.
What interests me about urban landmark photography is the tension between the familiar and the fresh. These structures have been photographed millions of times. The Bridge's muscular engineering and the Opera House's sculptural sails represent two philosophies of architecture, yet they complement each other against the harbor.
