Victoria, Australia. Rising from the Southern Ocean, the Twelve Apostles have drawn visitors from around the world for generations. The world famous Twelve Apostles are the highlight of the Great Ocean Road. The stacks must be close to 200 feet (70 m) high. Although there are now only 7 stacks — two have collapsed this century — the waves pounding into the rock arches and bridges form new stacks too.
Standing at the clifftop, watching these limestone stacks glow in the light, I found myself contemplating a curious truth: there were never actually twelve.
