Water Lilies
Algonquin Park, Ontario. I missed capturing a shot of the water lilies last summer, so I made up for it this year, on a hike in Algonquin.
The lilies were at their peak — white flowers open to the sun, green pads floating in loose clusters across the surface of a pond. I'd found this spot on a hike, noted it as promising, and returned at what I hoped was the right time. For once, my timing was perfect.
The challenge with water lilies is that they're often too scattered or too dense — finding a grouping that feels intentional without being cluttered requires patience and willingness to get your feet wet.
This composition places a cluster of blooms in the foreground. The lily pads break up the reflection, and the flowers provide the focal point.
Water lilies have been painted and photographed endlessly, and for good reason — their calm, their way of floating perfectly on whatever water offers them.
Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Matte finish to preserve the soft quality of the flowers and the mood. For those who know that some subjects never stop being worthy.
