Whirling Water

from $275.00

Haliburton, Ontario. I had been photographing the Hollow River when I noticed this section where the water was doing something unusual. The flow created patterns as it moved, and the interplay of light and shadow revealed layers that looked almost impossible.

I positioned my camera to capture the swirling water. The composition became almost abstract — you could look at this image and not immediately recognize it as water at all. It reminded me of marble, or perhaps the colors of a gas giant viewed from space. The circular motion created natural curves that drew the eye toward the center.

This is one of those images that reveals new details every time I look at it. The depths and shadows create mystery — what lies beneath? How deep does it go? This near-abstract study feels almost hypnotic. Even familiar subjects can yield surprises when we take the time to look closely.

Limited edition Chromaluxe metal print. Ultra gloss finish enhances the depth and dimension of this near-abstract study, making the swirling water appear almost three-dimensional. Nature's vortex.
